Applying to the University College of the Caribbean (UCC)
IMS/IMP Students Information.

The University College of the Caribbean (UCC), Jamaica’s largest privately-held tertiary education consortium, is Breaking New Frontiers in Higher Education. To prepare students for an increasingly complex and diverse society, the UCC has developed a number of programmes to provide the knowledge and skills to help our students succeed within a world community. Our range of programmes covers local Associate and Bachelor degrees and overseas Bachelor and Masters degree programmes, offered in partnership with internationally recognized institutions such as the Florida International University, Florida Memorial University, University of London and the Commonwealth of Learning.

THE ARTICULATION FLOW CHART

The UCC's Articulation Flow chart was designed to function as a guide for  students to help them make choices, from among our courses of study, that fit their specific needs. In this way, students can make decisions to advance their education in a way that will contribute to the achievement of their career and educational goals.

For example if you are a high school graduate, you may choose to start with an Associate degree (i.e. the lower division of the Bachelor’s) programme which will take you into the upper division of a selected Bachelor’s degree.

Step 1: Application
If you wish to complete a UCC professional programme or degree, you must apply for admission to the institution. You may download or print an application by clicking here. Please address it to:

Applications
The Registrar
University College of the Caribbean
17 Worthington Avenue
Kingston 5, Jamaica W.I.
Step 2: Offer Letter
Upon receipt of all relevant documents the Registry assesses and evaluates each completed application; applicants are notified within ten (10) work days of the status of the application and action taken .

An applicant should not consider himself/herself officially accepted to any programme, until he/she has received a formal letter of acceptance from the Registry.

Step 3:Acceptance of Offer
On receipt of an Offer Letter from UCC, an applicant must return the enclosed Acceptance Form on or before the date specified in the Offer Letter. Where an applicant fails to submit the Acceptance Form by the specified date, the applicant will be deemed to have declined the offer of a place at UCC.

Step 4: Late Applications
Late Applications may be permitted up to two (2) weeks after the commencement of a programme. Applications after this period may only be permitted at the discretion of the Registrar. A non-refundable application fee of $600.00 must accompany the duly completed application form.

Step 5: Finanacial Aid Options
The UCC offers flexible payment options. Contact our Student Financial Services Department (SFS) for details. Qualified applicants may apply for loans through the Students' Loan Bureau, the City of Kingston Co-op Credit Union and other financial institutions.

Step 6: Orientation and Registration
All individuals who accept the offer of a place in a UCC programme must attend the Orientation and Registration Sessions at the times and venue as stated in the Offer Letter. An individual must not consider him/herself a student of the UCC until he/she attended the Orientation and Registration Sessions and submitted all pertinent documentation and received an Official Admissions Pass Card.

Step 7: Payment of Tuition Fees
Ideally, annual tuition fees should be paid in advance, but individuals who are not company-sponsored , or those unable to make payment in full before the start of the programme (self-sponsored), may make payments according to a term payment option. This arrangement must be made with the Student Financial Services Department.

For payments made according to this option, the term fee must be paid in full at least one week prior to the commencement of lectures for the new term. Such persons will be eligible to sit all course tests and examinations for that term period ONLY.

Methods of Payment

  • Payments must be made in cash or certified cheque using the appropriate bank voucher, (BNS-New Kingston a/c #8195-18) obtainable at the UCC.
  • Debit Card/ Credit Card
  • Telemidas

A copy of the bank voucher must be submitted to the Accounts Department, Kingston or to the Centre Manager in charge in the case of the regional centres, as soon as possible after making any payments. This will facilitate and expedite the accurate update of your student account file.
