Dear Students,
Welcome to the
exciting journey of distance education upon which you are about to embark and
“reembark” for those of you who are continuing with us at DEGL.
Much thought and
effort have been put into the programme, incorporating suggestions from the
first cohort of 2006 as well as your lecturers.
We have also sought to infuse more of the internationally recognized
tried and proven techniques to make your learning experience that much easier
as we enter the third phase of the pilot project. You will find that we have in
place a dedicated cadre of professionally and academically qualified lecturers
who have also been trained in working with and for distance learners. They are equal to any challenge that you may
toss their way.
Your degree will be
the well earned reward that will be handed to you on graduation day, a symbol
of your sacrifice, dedication to the task at hand, discipline, drive and
determination. Remember always, that the
team here at the DEGL Office stands ready to help you as we mean what we say in
our motto Going the distance for you.
I wish for you a
satisfying time with us and all the very, very best in your studies.
Grace Turner, Ph.D.
Interim Director
Distance Education and Global Learning

JANUARY 2008 DEGL MESSAGE
A very, very Happy New Year to you all!
As we enter yet another year, there is a lot for which we should be thankful as we charge forward with renewed energy and commitment to achieve greatness.
It was a true pleasure to have met with those of you who were able to make the meeting in Montego Bay in December. I understand that others of you had prior commitments and know that your “classmates” will have updated you by now. Andrea Allen AND I had been meeting with the Kingston LIVE Groups over the term. We both, along with the rest of the team – Marie Lowthan and Diann Bright-Brown look forward to meeting our new students soon.
