2-4 Year Degree Course
Human Resource Management (HRM) refers
to the practices and policies needed
to manage the human resource and personnel
aspects of a job. These include conducting
job analysis: manpower planning; selection
and recruitment; training; compensation
management; performance management and
employee welfare.
Why Human Resource Management?
Studying HRM can equip you
with the skills and the competencies
needed for a career in the field. The
knowledge and skills gained will not
only be useful to persons with a desire
to specialise in HRM, but will also
be important to persons with a need
to become successful managers, as effective
human resource management is a major
component of any manager’s job
responsibility.
Target Group
This degree programme is specially designed
for persons:
- Who are currently working in the
field of H.R.M. with a desire to upgrade
their skills
- Interested in pursuing a career
in this exciting and growing field.
- Persons in general management who
recognise the important role of H.R.M.
Programme Description
The programme consists of
two components:
1) A general business component. On
completion of this component the student
will be awarded an Associate Degree
in Business
2) A component of specialised study
in Human Resource Management. On completion,
the student is awarded a B.Sc. in Human
Resource Management.

Admission Requirements
- 5 CXC’s or GCE ‘O’
Level subjects (including Mathematics
and English), or
- A diploma from IMS, IMP or its equivalent
from a tertiary institution registered
by the UCJ
- An associate degree or its equivalent
from IMS, IMP or from an accredited
programme. (required for candidates
who seek entry into the third year
of the programme)

CERTIFICATION
This programme is a joint degree conferred
by both IMP and the University Council
of Jamaica (UCJ), the recognised accreditation
body for tertiary education in Jamaica.
