OAS/UCC
BILATERAL (SCHOLARSHIP) AGREEMENT
The
General Secretariat of the Organization of
the American States (GS/OAS) and the University
College of the Caribbean (UCC) have entered
into a bilateral agreement with the aim of
co-sponsoring eligible OAS scholarship recipients,
from other Caribbean islands or OAS member
states other than Jamaica, for studies at
the University College of the Caribbean. This
agreement has been entered into as a result
of its selection by past OAS scholarship recipients
as a preferred place of study.
By design, OAS Scholarships
are eligible to Caribbean nationals to be
taken up in a country other than their own.
Therefore, applicants residing in Jamaica
are not eligible to apply for the following
OAS Scholarships. However, Jamaican students
living abroad - the Caribbean, the USA or
Canada - are eligible to apply. Contact the
UCC for further details
Scholarship Programme
The scholarship is only available for the
following types of study at the UCC:
a) Full-time study for the final two years
of undergraduate studies, subject to the OAS
regulations
b) Full-time graduate study for up to two

Application Modalities
The OAS/UCC Scholarship Programme utilizes
the following scholarship application modalities:
a) Parallel applications – that is,
the student applies to the UCC to study and
simultaneously applies to the OAS for a scholarship
to finance his / her studies.
b) Single application to the OAS for a scholarship
- in this case the student applies only to
the OAS for a scholarship, indicating that
he / she wishes to study at the UCC.
· Students interested in participating
in the OAS Scholarship Programme under the
Agreement can choose to do so under any of
these two modalities. Application for an OAS
scholarship has to be made through the National
Liaison Office in your own country designated
by the authorities.
· Students that choose the dual application
modality and apply directly to the UCC for
admission will be required to submit their
letter of acceptance in order to be considered
for an OAS scholarship.
· Candidates selected for scholarships
under the single application modality who
indicate that they wish to study at the UCC,
shall be submitted to the University College
for consideration. Additionally, other qualified
candidates may also be submitted to the University
College for consideration.
